Dr Pepper: Surprise Hit of the Beverage Aisle

drpepper

Among the drinks we sell at Simpl Snacks, Dr Pepper represents one of our most frequently requested adds to our machines. When we first started in the business, this stunned us! We wrongly assumed this “old” drink would never sell. Shows what we know!! Over time, Dr Pepper remains a steadfast seller not only in our machines but worldwide. According to Statista and Keurig Dr Pepper Group, 626 million cases sold in 2021 alone.

Interestingly, when requested, our customers prefer the original Dr Pepper flavor. Customers don’t always reach out with requests. Dr Pepper remains an exception. No to the diet or cherry versions. We see the plastic bottles as a better seller than the cans for some reason. “It just tastes way different” or so our customers tell us! Can’t argue with that!

History of Dr Pepper

Dr Pepper (no period – that’s not a typo) saw a resurgence in recent years. However, this classic predates even the Snickers bar. First created by a pharmacist named Charles Alderton in 1885, Dr Pepper started a trend. Dr Pepper rolled out roughly one year before Coca-Cola was born and nearly a decade before Pepsi hit the market. Check out the Dr Pepper Museum for more information on the history of this drink. Of course, it’s made with 23 flavors and maybe that’s why it’s persisted for so long. It’s impossible to replicate the taste according to our customers.

Whatever the reason, Dr Pepper has been one of our more popular sodas. Before you go, check out the video below for more Dr Pepper trivia — guaranteed to wow your friends!!

Finally, like all of our soda options, we recommend they be consumed in moderation. Try to opt for water when possible — sorry, it’s the parent in us coming out. If you’d like to make sure Dr Pepper is in your vending machine, give us a call to get started with Simpl Snacks vending service.
